ABOUT DORIAN CAFFOT DE FAWES

Dorian Caffot de Fawes is a London-based French antiques dealer who focuses on the 20th century, typically from 1900 to 1970, although he also incorporates earlier pieces from the 18th and 19th century. Sourced from France and all over Europe, his rigorously selected stock includes lighting, furniture, mirrors, objects and art for both private collectors and interior designers, each item combining strong decorative qualities, good craftsmanship and fair value.

We are particularly passionate about the 20th century, a fascinating era, for it marks a great turning point in the history of design, incredibly rich in its different styles in such a short time: Art Nouveau, Jugendstil, Swedish Grace, Art Deco, Modernism, Vienna Secession, Brutalism and mid-century modern, and more. By mixing these styles and periods, Dorian's relaxed approach to antiques and 20th century design brings together a selection of elegant and unusual pieces for today's collectors and interior designers, both in the UK and internationally.

Dorian travels through Europe all year round, mainly in France, Italy, Spain and Sweden, to source the gallery's inventory, which is carefully restored, rewired or reupholstered before being offered at the shop. Lucas, the gallery manager, runs day-to-day operations and welcomes collectors and designers in, along with Dorian.

We also exhibit three times a year at the Decorative Fair in Battersea Park, one of the city's leading events for antiques and 20th century design.

From Paris to LOndon

Born in Paris, Dorian grew up in the Basque Country and later studied Art History in Bordeaux before moving to London in 2007. After training at Sotheby's Bond Street, he worked for seven years with a well-known antiques dealer in Chelsea before setting up his own business in 2015. After six years running two shops in Fulham, his gallery now spans over 90 square metres on Church Street, Marylebone, where he is part of one of the oldest communities of antiques dealers in London.

Dorian thrives in sourcing beautiful and interesting pieces for the gallery, looking for elegant lines, balance, curves and depth of materiality. When he is not on a buying trip somewhere in Europe, Dorian shares his time between the London shop and Menorca, where he has a second home and another antiques shop.
